How to print glossy stickers at home
Get that shiny, professional finish — even if you only have a basic printer — with the right paper and a simple sealing trick.
Quick answer
For glossy stickers at home, print on glossy sticker paper at Best/Photo quality with paper type set to “glossy.” For extra shine and waterproofing, seal the printed sheet with a clear gloss laminate sheet or a clear gloss spray. Matte paper + gloss laminate also gives a glossy result.
Two ways to get gloss
1. Glossy sticker paper
Simplest route — the sheen is built into the paper. Print at Best quality with paper type “glossy/photo.”
2. Laminate over the top
Print on matte or glossy, then apply a clear gloss laminate sheet (or spray). Adds shine and water resistance.
Step by step
- 1
Use glossy sticker paper for your printer
Inkjet gloss for inkjet, laser gloss for laser. Mismatched paper is why gloss prints smear.
- 2
Print at Best / Photo quality
Set media type to glossy/photo and quality to Best. Draft mode kills the shine and the color depth.
- 3
Let it dry fully
Glossy coatings hold ink on the surface longer — give inkjet prints extra minutes before touching.
- 4
Seal for shine + protection
Lay a clear gloss laminate sheet over it, or spray 2–3 light coats of clear gloss sealer, letting each dry.
- 5
Cut and stick
Trim with scissors, a craft knife, or a cutting machine.

FAQ
Can I make glossy stickers without glossy paper?
Yes — print on matte sticker paper and apply a clear gloss laminate sheet or gloss spray sealer on top. You get the shine and added durability.
How do I make glossy stickers waterproof?
Seal them with a clear laminate or gloss spray, or print on glossy vinyl sticker paper, which is water-resistant by nature.
Why do my glossy stickers look dull?
You’re probably in draft mode or using the wrong paper profile. Set quality to Best and media type to glossy/photo.
