Creator Tips Playbook — turn followers into supporters

9-step guide to earning from your audience: pick link vs native tips, price the button so it gets tapped, write copy people relate to, place it where it converts, and promote it without being weird.

What's inside

  • Link vs native tipsWhich path to start with, and why
  • Price + button copyPresets, the coffee anchor, labels that get tapped
  • Placement + promotionWhere it converts, and how to ask without being weird
  • Thank-you playbookTurn one-time tips into regular supporters

Most creators leave money on the table for one reason: they never ask. Not because tipping doesn't work — because the button is missing, buried, or awkward. This playbook fixes that in an afternoon.

Nine steps. Do 1–4 today (that's the whole setup). Steps 5–9 are how you grow it over the next month.

External link (Ko-fi, BMC, PayPal) Native tips (Stripe, on your page)
Setup Paste a URL Connect Stripe once
Money lands Their account → you withdraw Straight to your bank
Fees Platform cut + payment fee Just the payment fee
Friction Sends people off your page Pays without leaving your bio

Start with an external link if you have zero evidence anyone will tip — a five-minute test. Switch to native tips the moment you get your first few, because every extra click costs conversions. On Linkos, native tips are a small €2/mo add-on; the payout lands in your bank, no platform cut.

Step 2 — Price it to get tapped

The biggest mistake is offering only a "custom amount" box — it makes people do maths and most just close it. Give three presets plus custom:

  • Low — the impulse tap, €2–3 ("here's a coffee").
  • Middle — your default, highlighted, €5. Most tips land here.
  • High — the fan number, €10–15.

Round numbers win (€5 beats €4.80 — tips are goodwill, not retail). Highlight the middle and most people land there.

Step 3 — Write button copy that relates

Weak Strong Why
Donate Buy me a coffee Coffee = small human thank-you, not charity
Support me Fuel the next video Names what the money makes
Tip Say thanks with €5 Warm gesture, not an abstract action

Name the thing their money makes possible. Read it out loud — if you'd actually say it, keep it.

Step 4 — Place it where it converts

  1. Right under your bio — warm intent is highest.
  2. Repeated at the bottom — catch the people who scrolled everything.
  3. Inside your best-performing link — a soft "tip if this helped".

Don't bury it mid-stack. That's the whole setup — steps 1–4 give you a converting button today.

Step 5 — Manufacture the moment

Tips spike around moments, not quiet Tuesdays. Create them: milestones ("just hit 5k — thank you"), freebies with a soft ask ("this is free, tip only if it saved you time"), drops (mention it once when attention already peaks). The ask rides on top of value you just delivered.

Step 6 — Say thank you (it builds the relationship)

The one-line DM ("genuinely made my day — thank you"). Public shout-outs where it fits. Something back — early access, a reply. Watch the second tip, not the first: a repeat tipper is the start of real income, and the thank-you earns it.

Step 7 — Promote without begging

Mention it lightly, about once a week, tied to a moment. Thank people. Move on. Don't open every post with the ask, guilt-trip, or repeat it three times a caption. The formula: mention it, thank people, move on.

Step 8 — Track the two numbers that matter

Ignore followers and likes. Watch tip conversion (tips ÷ visits — even 0.5–1% is healthy) and repeat-tipper rate (the real signal). Check monthly, not daily — tips are lumpy.

Step 9 — Keep it worth tipping for

The button doesn't earn the money — the work does. The creators who earn steadily mention it lightly, thank people warmly, and keep making the thing worth tipping for. Ship the button today. Perfect it over the next month.

Pop quiz · 5 questions · ~60 seconds

Would your tip button actually get tapped?

Answer 5 multiple-choice questions. See your tier at the end. Bragging rights optional.

Do this now

Add a tip button in Linkos → Monetization (native tips are a small €2/mo add-on — payout to your bank, you keep it minus Stripe's fee). Set presets to €3 / €5 / €10, middle highlighted. Label it "Buy me a coffee". Place it under your bio and repeat at the bottom.
